Small desktop sundial dated 1862. This sundial has the crest of The Loyal Regiment. (North Lancashire)
The date 1862 most likely refers to the sundial manufacturer (Stanley of London) who were a well known shipping compass and sundial maker during the 1800’s.
The sundial (top) was most likely a treasured possession added to the base to make a desk gift for someone in the regiment.
Impossible to date the actual piece itself.
Nice got of North Lancs memorabilia though.
It measures approximately 6cm tall and is approx 5cm in diameter.
